Impressive Nicole! I have clipped coupons for 30 years. I loved it when the grocery stores here offered double or triple coupon days. I haven't seen that in quite some time here on the Cape though.

Thank you. What are prices like in Maine? Is it really expensive up there? I know I've read that seafood is really very cheap.

I actually live in Cape Cod, Ma, but love the coast of Maine and found CD while researching property up there, hence the name.

New England in general is expensive. Cape Cod for sure. For some reason, anything that comes over the Cape Cod canal has to get jacked up in price! lol Not kidding. It's a 'mental' thing... they used to think we were the hinterlands! lol You can make a big loop... go north on the way out and south on the way back.. that's no different than going to Providence from Boston and back, but mentally... it puts those city folks in a fog! lol

Great for you! I never could get into couponing, because I never found things that I'd use. I always just ended up spending more. But anyone who doesn't view paper goods as a necessity with children obviously has never had a snacking teenager in the house. I'd say $1.50 well spent.

I always keep a look out for Harris Teeter sales (if you have them in your area, seriously keep an eye on weekly specials). They have great deals like buy two bags of frozen shrimp, get three free. Half price steak is fairly common, as is $ .39-.69 per pound whole chicken. We once got fresh bacon wrapped sea scallops for $3.50 a pound! It's a great way to stock up, and not have to resort to couponing..plus you can get a little bit spoiled. Almost every time I shop there, the amount I saved is larger than my bill!

I used to hate grocery store "member discount cards".

I would tell the cashier that if I didn't get the "member price' they could put it all back on the shelves.
He would pull out and use a card that he called "the manager's card" and I would get the discounted price.

But, when I started shopping at Safeway which also has a gas station, it was a different story.
It payed me to have a members discount card because it keeps track of my purchases, and when I have bought $100 worth of groceries, I get ten cents off each gallon of gas I buy at the Safeway Station

It doesn't take long to spend $100, and a ten cent discount on every gallon of gas is a substantial saving, especially when the price of gas at Safeway is the lowest in town even without the discount.

Did you have coupons for this? Of your entire list, these are the only things that I would have purchased.

Did anyone else notice "My camera isn't working so I had to use my blackberry." They aren't cheap....and neither are the plans you must have with a blackberry.

Is anyone else wondering what that has to do with saving money at the grocery store?

1. you have no clue how much I did or did not pay for my phone.
2. you have no clue how much my plan is.
3. again, it has nothing to do with the fact that I saved money at the grocery store.

I swear it's like people are MAD that I freaking saved money. If you don't like it or only have negative stuff to say - MOVE ON.
