I'm curious as to how much everyone spends on groceries per month per person. I know this will vary by geographic area and age of children, but I just want a general idea.
*JUST groceries. Not including things like laundry soap and toilet paper.
Just groceries I'm going to guess $100-125 per person. We only have adults in the home, and I buy meats on sale in bulk and freeze, and stock up on canned and dry goods on sale as well. I don't buy many "convenience items" except the ramen noodles my son likes (I know, eww... but at least they are cheap) and tend to cook almost everything from scratch. We also grow many of our own vegetables in the summer. We eat well, lean meat almost every night and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. I'm a really careful shopper and definitley rely on sales and coupons.
I spend about a $100 or less per week for 4 ppl. I shop at discount stores which helps alot. Save-A-Lot, Aldi, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree and Walmart. I only buy meats when they are on sale, so I stock up. I pay on average for quality meats about $2/lb.
2 adults, frequent guests - our grocery bill runs about $550-$600 per month. That is including other grocery store stuff like laundry detergent, etc, though. I don't separate that out.
We eat well - a lot of organic fruits and vegies, "natural" meats, high quality cheeses, good Italian coffee, organic milk and eggs, from local sources (or our garden) when I can get it. I don't buy much in the way of frozen foods (though I do freeze foods), very little processed foods. I make our bread and desserts, the spouse makes our beer, although we drink a purchased bottle of wine or so a week.
I go to the grocery store (which is about 35 miles away) every 5-8 days, and it cuts down on a lot of the "little" spending that always adds up. Today, for instance, I bought two $6.99 movies on DVD. Last week I bought a bouquet of sunflowers.

Execpt Aldi... I've never really entered Aldi. I was under the impression that they were expensive. Is that not so?
