The word "Frugal" will have a different meaning depending on the decade in question and usage.

As a little boy during the depression (30's) recall my grandfather collecting newspaper and cardboard on a small wagon which he stored in a small shed in the back yard. This was all for money which I never understood being a little tyke at the time. Uncles and aunts all lived with my grandparents in one house...same as many Mexicans do today with money being in short supply. A person has to live the best way they can depending on others if it may be needed.

Today I am a little "Frugal" in that I do not have the need for many things as in the past. It is foolish to have a 3-4 bedroom house when you only need one bed to sleep in. Same would be a questionable need for a 2nd house unless it's for income only. Same with 2-3 cars...insurance...repairs etc...when you can only drive one at a time. The number of cars will vary depending on persons working and a need for a emergency car at the finger tips.

Could go on...most will get my point. I cooked a meal yesterday that will last me for three dinners...a lot cheaper and more nourshing then eating at McDonalds and the like.

Steve

OK all you TV people, I have to ask. What on earth are you WATCHING? When I am traveling with my work and staying in a motel I will click on the television for about two minutes. I cannot find ANYTHING that is worth watching. Once in a while I will hit an old episode of X Files (which I love) but seldom, if ever do I find anything that I can STAND looking at for more than a minute or two and that INCLUDES movies.

I'm baffled.

I watch political shows only for the most part - MSNBC. When I want to escape I'll watch Lifetime.

I'm puzzled....What the heck does staying in a Motel got to do with being "Frugal"? unless the person is staying at a Motel with hourly rates.

Some people need to get a life.

When traveling 1,200 miles from home for work, what would you suggest? Sleeping/showering in the trunk of my car?
