I cut my many of mom's monthly bills in half, with no decrease in service. My mother did not have to change her usage at all (except for TV). For example:

(Prices are per month)

Home phone:
Time-Warner: $47 (part of a $140 package)
Callcentric: $10 (pay per minute)

Internet: (This one I couldn't find a suitable cheaper alternative)
Time-Warner: $47 (part of a $140 package)
ATT DSL: $50

Television:
Time-Warner: $47 (part of a $140 package)
Netflix/TV rabbit ears: $10 (streaming movies/DVD plan, and the rabbit ears give her local news and channels, even in HD!)

Cell phone:
Sprint: $45 (450 minutes/month)
Page Plus: $10 (pay per minute, uses the Verizon network)

Gym membership:
24 hr Fitness: $35 (if you sign up through the gym)
24 hr Fitness: $15 (if you sign up through Costco instead!)

Security:
ADT: $45
Smith-Thompson: $20
