I have a lot of moss on my backlawn and need to get rid of it. I bought pelletized lime yesterday and went crazy with my spreader in hopes that tis makes the soil less acidic and not too much that it kills everything.
Also bought a product call 'moss out' that guarantees to take care of moss within hours.
I transplant it into my shade rock garden! You might also look online and see the other creative things gardeners are doing these days with moss - "painting" it on fences and yard decorations, etc.
But for killing moss, white vinegar works like a charm and costs only pennies. Put it in a spray container and spray away on a dry day when the temp is at least seventy degrees.
My outdoor carpeted front stairway faces north and is susceptible to moss growth. I just give it a light spray in the spring and it really saves on the life of the carpet.

I use Moss Out and am able to control it, but have to apply a 20 lb. bag 2-3 times a year. The moss generally starts about November, and if you let it get too well entrenched it will require raking out before treating. I use a spreader when rain is predicted for a few days, so I don't have to water it in. Then after the 3rd application, about April, I spot treat any that has come back. Lime will help balance the lawn PH like me, you have fir needles drop on it, but won't kill the moss.
I try to manage it with lime, but like other have said, it wont kill it, dont have much else to offer except be fortunate your not in the Pacific Northwest:
