Default Mulching leaves on shady lawn?

I have heard a lot about the benefits of using my lawn mower to mulch the fallen leaves onto the lawn, rather than bag it up. However, my lawn is very shady, and I'm not sure if it would be beneficial there, or if I would be blocking too much sunlight.

If anyone can give me some insight, I'd really appreciate it.

Teresa

Mulching is a good idea but a lawn area cannot support much over what it generates itself most of the time. I mow a lot of leaves on my lawn but use the mower to pick them up so I can dump them where I compost.

Not a good idea. Remove leaves to a compost pile. If you prefer to mulch mow you need a mower specifically designed for the job. You should not mulch mow anything on your lawn except the growing grass. Remove all debris first. A good mulching mower is not cheap if you want the job done right.
