Sunflower harvest
Alright, I think I mentioned in another post that I grew about 8 packages of sunflowers this year. Anyways, I just went outside to clip the flower-heads. I got about 6-8 flower heads, each one different sizes and having packed full of seeds.
Here's my question: while I was clipping the heads, I noticed the smaller ones that aren't supposed to have seeds, have cavity-like areas that had seeds in them before and either already fell to the ground, or birds ate them or something, I'm just not sure. Were there seeds in them or do some sunflowers just end that way?

The missing seeds were probably eaten by birds. It happens.

I agree, probably birds. I prefer to leave the heads on the stalks and watch the birds get the seeds. They will do some interesting gymnastics to get to the ones on the bottom.
