Wow baby goats! That sounds cute. I remember feeding one of my uncle's goats when I was little. Well I now have crocuses blooming and I noticed the peonies are budding when I was doing some work in the yard. It still can't come fast enough for me!
I really can't live here anymore Winter seems to last longer and longer every year. It's so depressing. I need to get snowshoes or something so I can try to enjoy winter more...but really I'm just planning to plant more evergreens. LOL It's nice to see green.
Harbingers of spring! Here are a couple of pictures I took in my backyard just before sunset this evening. I lay down on the ground to get several pics of my snowdrops in bloom. They are only about 3" tall. En masse, they create a sea of white at the back of my yard ~ true harbingers of spring!
Thanks for your photos, PJ8! I adore snowdrops and will have to (finally) plant some in my current garden, so I can enjoy them "at home". It's amazing how hardy those delicate little flowers/plants are! Without fail, they push through the earth, regardless of whether winter is still lurking or not. They always put a smile on my face!
And right on the heels of the snowdrops, poking through the dirt are not only crocuses, but winter aconite, with their bright yellow flowers.
I got the paper this morning and saw the first daffodil of the season was open and will probably be in full bloom by tomorrow. The first hyacinth is open too and should bloom by tomorrow as well. It's going to be in the 60s today in SE Pa.
Bahh.. SE PA you're killing me.. I'm in Cinci - which should be 100 miles or so South of you.. and my daffs and hyacinths are still all green - no buds/no blooms. And its pushing 70 today!!! But - the buds on my early lilac have broken, the crocus are now competing with the mini iris and things look like they're really starting to get going.
We're a good bit above average today (back in the high 50's this weekend) - but its so odd -- I've got Lilacs starting in the front, and trillium just sprouting in the back. In MI this was all a lot more separated out.
Spring is beautiful - but COMPRESSED here in Cinci. Another 100 miles South and I would think it would go right from Winter to Summer! We're all too close to that some years anyways!

Oh... saw a snake today!! Very exciting. Some harmless little guy. Not a gardener snake, but similar. Too cute! The critters are waking up!
PJ, you're making me extremely jealous over here......still a sea of melting snow and mud going on in my yard, no flowers are brave enough to pop through that Keep the pics coming!!!
Being from the south I never really knew the "real" meaning of cabin fever meant until we moved to Indiana. I am a avid garden and yard person. I have been walking on the ceiling waiting for just a glimpse of spring. Alas....TODAY!!! I was ready to lasso the sun and pull him up this morning. 69 glorious degrees today...The yard is still a little soggy from all the rain and melted snow but not sloshy.
I saw my first little yellow crocus (I almost cried! LOL!) Then the dogs and I went out to the pond and the frogs were awake and leaping off the bank. The goldfish were cruising around and we also saw a couple bluegill. Got several chores done and soaked up every bit of sunshine I could. The dogs enjoyed it to the fullest too. Can we do this again tomorrow? Ehhhhh its iffy...60 degrees and 20-25 mph wind gusts...will see....Just bring on the sunshine....
