Anyone having trouble with these nasty little pests called Buffalo gnats? I can't seem to find anything to keep them from biting when mowing the lawn. The bites have left welts on my arms and legs which are not going away

Try any non-sented sun lotion. Lather it on thick as most biting insects can't deal with oil.

I have never heard of this insect before. I'll google them.

I haven't heard of them, sound like they would hurt. Would a mosquito spray work?

I have tried all the bug sprays they don't work. I heard that Bath and Body Vanilla spray would keep them away.....it helps, but they still bite. Maybe I need one of those bee keeper suits

I use Liquid Net for Horses and it works.

Liquid Net for Horses the Ultimate Equine Insect Repellent.

Of course, if you don't think Liquid Net for Horses is appropriate for you, you could always try,

It might be..........I can be quite a "nag" at times. At this point anything is worth a try.

another name for simulidae or black flies

don't know where you are but folks up north use headnets. down here by PA some towns or counties used some spray on the local streams to kill the larvae.

If you are moving they don't seem to be able to catch up. You can;t walk fast enough to escape them. Brimmed hat seems to keep them from your face. some days they are hoprrible others not so much. covering up is best if you have to be out there when they are.

You might see if they are more active at certain times than others.
