Water, hopefully, the tinfoil is to keep the water in the cup from evaporating.

Yes, meant if it were anything unusual.

I once pinched a leaf off one of my violets and put it into an empty pot with some potting soil and put the whole thing into a gallon size Ziploc bag and water periodically. I placed the bag near a window. I sprouted a whole new plant. It was really cool. I saw the instructions somewhere on the internet.

A friend of mine for some completely unknown reason seems to have bought one of everything from an online African violet supplier. So to spread the joy, he brought the box over to my house to open it up. And then he gave me leaves from some of these new violets.

Some of them are trailers and semi-miniatures and even really tiny true miniatures. They barely reach the edges of a 2" pot. Those are being sprouted in a terrarium. All this was just last week, so far nothing has sprouted but hopefully....

If even half of these things sprout, I have no idea where they will all go. Maybe there will have to be a new violet house built or something? Kinda like a greenhouse with a roof, I'd expect. Maybe a gazebo or something in the shade would be nice for them. Well, we will see in a month or so how many if any sprout and grow.
