trumpet vine not blossoming
I took a root from my orange-red trumpet vine which blooms heavily every June and started a nice vine at a friend's yard. Vine looks fine and full.
The plant is growing up a iron pipe and towers about 12 feet high. It started flowering about 4 years ago and the deer eat the lower blooms.
The high blooms begin to form and never materialize.
TV is so hardy and disease/ pest resistant it is a puzzlement.
Have some monarda and hibiscus around that vine for hummers and all seems well with them.
What is going on with the TV blooms ?????

There are about a dozen vines commonly called trumpet vines. You need to find the botanical name or post a picture so we know which one you are talking about.

a hummingbird told me........
Problem solved!
I realized the lower section of the vine had been nibbled to the main stem by deer.
All the energy was going into the new growth of leaves and creepers from the main stem.
No energy left for blossoms on the upper end of the vine the deer could not reach.
