I have one and it's the focal point of my back yard. I absolutely love it and I can sit out by it all night long. That is the best investment I have ever made.
Eventually I would like to have a new patio and I will put in an outdoor fireplace.
Just pour your self a glass of wine and relax in front of the fire. Even in the winter if it's not too cold out I will get use out of it.
Yes, have one in my atrium....(no roof/open to air) and I love it. They are so much more interesting visually than a fire pit. Just moved to the SE coast, where in winter it will be just chilly enough to sit out in front of the fire! With maybe a coffee or wine....
Enjoy~

I have a big one in my back yard and have used it occasionally. I love it. I kind of like an open firepit better but this one is sufficient for my needs.
Like most stuff made of unglazed clay, if you leave it out over winter, and moisture gets in the clay (dew, rain, even snow), then it the freeze/thaw cycle will make it spall and crack.
i've had one but generally prefer my current firepit-with-legs, as i can use it to burn the large branches that are constantly falling out of my oak trees without sawing them up first.
