When we had Tabby before she died, I always grew one of those little pots full by the window, and tried to dry as much as possible to make it last longer. Good luck, I would catch her in the middle of the night like a junkie on the street corner, gnawing the grass to the nubbins, lol.

I have a similar problem.
Having said that, I call BS on your story about the cat poo in your garden.
I have a neighbor that lets his cat (young cat) outside, and he poops in the large flowerpots that I grow tomatoes in. I have other neighbors that let their cats outside, and they never get into my plants, nor do the stray cats. Only this one cat! And I've seen him in there. I talked to his owner, and he said, " Well, I don't know what to tell you, he's strictly a litter box cat!" I said, "Yes, inside, but not outside," and just then the cat climbed into a pot.
I'm going to get some chicken wire to keep him out!

I have to agree. I'm a fiercely protective cat lover and I never let my cats outside. If people are letting their cats roam and ****, not to mention the dangers of cats being outside, you're probably not going to gain much traction with the neighbors. It's worth a try, but confidence is low.
I would NOT do anything harmful to the cats, that puts you into Michael Vick territory (cat haters are, for all intents, Michael Vick) but I'd see if you have a local no-kill rescue who could find the cats a better home.

In NYC yeah, certainly. But in my hometown, especially where my Dad lives, nope; not illegal AT ALL. They are a pest, and it's legal to shoot pests.

In my neighborhood, children are pests. Is it ok if I shoot them?

We live on 11.26 acres, heavily wooded with a 2.5 acre clearing in the middle of the property with a winding driveway. I do a nice veggie garden each year, seldomly if ever do I have to deal with wayward critters. Probably because I also have 3 German Shepherd dogs that are highly territorial, my largest, and oldest male GSD has killed three raccoons thus far. We get no stray dogs or cats and Deer distrust our dogs as well.

In one home I lived in, cats and raccoons would climb into my walled patio and poop in or knock over my planters. I sprinkled white pepper on top of the wall and that put an end to the unwanted visitors. Didn't stop the slugs though - ugh.
