Could you tell me if this is AG. I was not able to get a single pic of seed head and leaves due to rain /flood damage.

Could be. You may Google and find pix that may help you. After seeing the Google pix, and yours, it's hard for me to decide.

The berries look right but the leaves are too chewed up to be even remotely sure. If you can find another set of leaves that are more intact it would be easier to ID. Chances are it is Ginseng. Be aware that harvesting is regulated and there can be some stiff penalties for taking any out of season and from certain places. Each state varies but I didn't find specifics for NJ.

Possibly Cornus Canadensis (bunchberry)?
