I was given boiled peanuts once. They were good at first but after a couple of days I think they turned rancid. How long should canned boiled peanuts last?
Hummmmmmm, a can of boiled peanuts may last 15 minutes. Not enough in there to last any longer.
It took me about five hours for green ones. It will depend on how hot you cook them. Trial and error and there won't be an error if you cook 'em slow and low and test one every so often. You want them tender like a dried bean would be when done.
i was going to say about 4 hrs depending how you cook them . I would say a hard boil for about 30 mins and then a slow boil the rest of the way and check them every so often and dont forget to add your seasonings such as salt , garlic salt , old bay crab boil seasoning , etc ... Just some things we used to cook them with when we lived in the south and am heading back there next year hopefully .so tired of snow and ice and cold air .
thanks, guys. if i'm going to be boiling a pot for that long i almost feel like i should be boiling more than just a couple pounds to make it worthwhile, but oh well. i was thinking to do a fast boil on the stove for 30 minutes or so, then into a crock pot for a simmer..
as far as spices i'm going with salt [of course], hot red pepper powder, and some garlic.
Time to revive this tasty thread, as I have 4 lbs boiling away on a wood fire out back. Can't wait to taste 'em
