We will mow the first time on Tues. It is still pretty wet but perfect for pulling weeds. In about 5 minutes I am heading to the garden, wiill pull the weeds and put some top soil down. We did buy our pepper plants today as they are going in plantrers and if it gets cold (which appears to be very unlikely) I can bring them in or cover them. I think we will do the seends and tomatoes in a couple more weeks.
I think that a lot of folks in my area who got tempted by the warm weather and planted early are going to be regretting it as we have several nights of temps below freezing to contend with.
I'm glad I wasn't even close to being ready to get planting, tempting as the weather was a month ago and in all likelihood I still won't be ready until the end of the month. By then conditions should be safe.
Awww. Those guys should be able to salvage their plants by covering them at night. I planted a few seeds "early" but snow peas, sugar snap peas and sweet peas. I personally don't think there's any reason to wait, except for the warm-season plants.
For those who can't wait, there are a few plants you can still sow in early Spring/Late winter. A few plants actually over-winter as well, giving much-needed satisfaction after a season of dead-looking foliage.
I planted garlic and cabbage last Autumn and those guys are happy-looking. Actually I think I got lucky with the cabbage because of the warm winter. I planted spinach early last year and it was successful w/ a few freezes as well.

I agree, especially seeds that may have sprouted. Even though they are tender, they are so close to the ground a little cover will protect them. Even warm season plants should be pretty safe now. Of course we can have an unusual temp drop, but heck that can even happen in May.
