I found a very beautiful large black butterfly in a parking lot yesterday. It is dead, but in perfect condition, and would like to preserve it. I know it needs to be in glass, but don't know what else? Any suggestions?
I think there is some kind of a powder you can layer the butterfly in for a while.....it's a taxidermy technique.....you'll probably need to google it though, I don't know anything else about it beyond that.
You can also use a two part resin and cast it in a mold. We make resin jewelry using such things as japanese beetles and such. You can get the resin at you craft store. Use a plastic mold of your choice and size. Use in a well ventilated area! Blow on the top of your poured resin to remove air bubbles.
That will make you a nice keepsake for life!
i always heard if you spray hairspray on it it will preserve it
