Hi recently moved to a new house and have notice an increased levels of necrosis on the leaves of one of the trees in the garden. I am assuming it is a citrus tree and all the leaves seem to be starting to get white spots on it, plus there are a number larger of insects feeding on the leaves. The leaves seems to be curling and covered in a whitish substance. I have taken some photos of both the leaves and the insects. I have absolutely no experience in gardening so any help will be immensely appreciated.

The best bet would be to take several leaves in a zip lock bag to your county cooperative extension office and ask for help. Or take it to a good nursery and see if they can help. The bugs look like aphids, but I have never seen white aphids, just green ones.

I have found that mixing warm water with dawn dish washing soap in a spray bottle, then spraying that on all the bugs until they come off helps. If the tree is big, that might not be an option. Good luck.

I make a similar spray, but I add feverfew flowers to the mix (pyrethrum). It seems to work well on aphids, scale, ants and wasps. I use it as my primary spray. Garlic can be added to it too, it discourages feeding and works well on caterpillars.

I have seen improvement in the health of a clients lemon tree after planting a feverfew plant at the base of the tree.

I will have to try that. Thanks!
