I usually just go around our house with the 20 pound bag of Spectracide Triazicide or equivalent. If I continue to have problems I just spray the perimeter with products such as Bayer Advanced Carpenter Ant & Termite Killer. Between the two; I keep them under control.

It also helps to keep the shrubbery cut back from the house. Don't let your trees and bushes come into contact with your house, foundation or deck.

Several years ago we had a problem with the ants and thought we did everything possible to keep them out. We forgot about the light/telephone lines coming into the house! There was a parade of ants walking the lines. I ended up spraying the lines until they finally died or gave up.

The good news is that in the past two days - no ants at all. WOOT! We think we have eradicated them this time around.

No ants, here, bugs, or crawling anything. Thanks to Diatomacious Earth puffed around the outside perimeter of our house. This stuff is awesome, and all organic.

I've used DE on occasion as well. I agree it's great stuff.

I've heard of DE but have never tried it. Does it have to be reapplied after rain?
