True and the lack of noticeable flowers along with leaf shape is hollering in my ear that it is a variety of Hosta Lancifolia,

It looks to be a variety of 'hosta', like 'lancifoilia'.

Don't think it's a hosta. Have never seen hosta leaves this smooth, and I have many varieties

That sort of threw me also. After some searching I found some smooth Hosta

Didn't you folks look at this hosta web site and notice the 100's of types of hostas and the many with glossy leaves.

Yep, it's a hosta of sort. There are several varieties and they grow well here in yards that shade in the afternoon. My sister has that variety in her yard.
