Now that the flowers opened, I just found these hiding in some pachysandra. They are a little over a foot long and sprawl on the ground but don't seem inclined to wind around anything- yet, anyway.

That looks like a chickweed of some kind.

You know, it does. I've always seen chickweed growing in a mat, and these are long stems growing individually. But looking at a google image of the flower close up, that's exactly what it looks like.

It may be hard to tell from the photos, but these flowers are white with green centers. And they are very small, maybe a half inch across. I've always seen larger blue flowers on chicory. (I have to say, chicory looks so pretty, epecially in fields with Queen Anne's Lace.)

Chicory is. It's a coffee substitute, and I think the greens are edible too. When I worked in an area with a large Arab population, I would occasionally see people picking chicory growing wild. The plant in my yard? I don't know, and I'm not very adventurous that way.
