LOVE your purple trellis. Hopefully the fall and winter will be hot enough to keep your plants growing.
I grow my vegetables in big horse/cow water tanks with holes punched into them ads I also have ROCK and then some under where I wanted my garden. I call the area my pottager because I also grow flowers.
I did and still am adding bags of garden soil bought from the store. It is not all that expensive. I need about 10 more bags to fill the largest tank that is about 8 foot across. I did really well with tomatoes this summer and picked the last of them last night as a hard freeze was expected.
I love your idea and next spring you can get an earlier start on your growing season. When I lived in Sacramento I would plant all garden plants on Mothers day. I think where you are you could plant much sooner. Here in Idaho I plan to gain on my growing season for tomatoes with the Wall of Waters around the plants and I will use the glass shower doors across the tops of the small containers to get peppers and other veggies growing. We can have frost here easily until June. We are lucky to get a 90 day growing season.
