Tomatoes, potato, peppers, eggplant are all relatives to nightshade, so could also be some crazy wild potato plant.
I thought it was a night shade or some other type of solanum, especially the closed flower, it does not look like a morning glory, closed or open. Sweet potato is also in the morning glory family.

I'm thinking a nightshade too, maybe some sort of datura.

It's one of the Ground Cherry (Physalis) species. Most likely this one one - US Wildflower - Virginia Groundcherry, Ground Cherry, Lanceleaf Groundcherry, Hog Plum, Husk Tomato - Physalis virginiana
