Has anyone here tried growing swiss chard from the leaves available in grocery stores? I did plant some seeds few weeks back and they all grew about 3-4 inches and then started dying. I water them every alternate days. Same thing happened with my other plants too such as spinach, lettuce, sage and cilantro. Not sure whats wrong. Anyways I was thinking if I can grow swiss chard from leaves available in market, just like we grow herbs.

I cannot tell you anything about propagating Swiss Char from cuttings. I think I remember it as liking the cooler temperatures - my father liked it a Fall crop and it was pretty hardy. But it doesn't like the warmer temperatures: Vegetable Planting Guide.

Ahh ok... The seed packet says it should be kept in full sun so I was leaving it outside. After growing couple of inches, it stopped growing further and then started dying.
