Mushrooms grown in manure and some meds, such as birth controll pills have pregnant mare urine in them. Ignorance can be bliss.

wit-nit is correct regarding military training, Been there. Done that. Wore out the T-shirt. I was born before WWII and in my life so far I have had three prescriptions. Two were the result of injuries.

If you eat vegetables picked by illegals then you probably already are.

If you go barefoot, you are walking on soil that is in part composed of the waste of many animals, including humans.

If you eat food or drink water, you are ingesting many microbes, only a few of which are bad actors.

Microbes neither know nor care about the legal status of human beings.

Pee-ing on a plant is one thing, but pouring a bucket of pee is another. Yeah you can wash the (what ever) off, but drowning a plant in pee, just ain't good. The roots are gonna suck it up, and you ain't washing it off no matter what.

It isn't the urine/salts so much that bothers me, it is the anti-biotics, hormones, etc in the urine. I'd need to know a great deal of how each and every vegetable uptakes those elements during growth.

In arid areas the salts might matter but not in areas of lots of rainfall.

Human urine is used in permaculture as a compost accelerator. It leaves the body sterile. The smell is when airborne bacteria mixes in and reproduces because the urine is rich in nutrients, mainly nitrogen. When placed in the compost it quickly breaks down into it's chemical components by the bacteria and microbes that consume it and release it into the compost as their own waste product. All productive soil has as one of it's components this microbial waste. All soil. Even the soil that the plants you buy in the grocery store is grown in.

Nightsoil is feces. Urine is not called nightsoil. Nightsoil can be used on plants after two to three years of composting. But not before. Cow and horse manure is supposed to be composted for a year. Field contamination is tied to livestock waste in runoff.

Yeah, in the winter I use urine to keep the compost pile cooking. No medications in my supply and by the time I use the compost the urine itself is non-existing.

Who would swim in water animals use for a toilet?

If you have been in an ocean, sea or fresh body of water you have. Where do fish do their business?

I don't know why knowing where the pee came from makes that much difference from animal waste but I do know that if you are eating organic that you are eating what was fertilized by animal waste. If the fertilizer isn't chemical that leaves pee and poo to fertilize it. PS. Humans are animal.
