Am thinking of moving there, out of the AZ desert. Looking for green, trees, 4 seasons, rain and maybe a little snow.

I especially want to know if I can grow this stuff there: Rubrum Maple trees, Winged Euonymous (Fire bush). Peonies, Lilac, Roses, Crape Myrtle, Magnolia, Linum (blue flax), Hosta, Iris. Spring time bulbs?

How difficult is the soil there? Came from Illinois previously. Never amended anything. Am greatly disappointed with desert gardening. This is a major part of where I move and definitely need some real advice from gardeners there ! Thank you !!!

Might want to post this on the Northwest Arkansas forum. I moved from there in 2009 and while I lived there, I grew anything I wanted to. Soil conditions depend on what part of the area you live. U of A and the County Extension Office can help you test soil.

I was lucky enough to have a home with rich black river bottom type soil.

Good luck and enjoy your move.

Well I can help a little and yes, you should post on our NWA forum as well.

We live about 30 miles north of Fayetteville; you have everything you need here to grow a beautiful garen, whether it is trees, produce, flowers, whatever. Right now our Crape Myrtles are beautiful but about done for the season. Now we are going to start seeing our wonderful fall flowers. Our produce gardens are still producing with cool weather veggies just a few weeks away. Yes, spring time and summer bulbs are everywhere. Hope this helps you some.
