The leaves are much smaller,and rounder on a weigela. Plus the OP would have seen flowers in late May, early June. And when you prune back a weigela it will bloom again in the very early fall.

If it's a viburnum, the leaves will be opposite each other. I can't think of a viburnum I don't like
