This many succulents can be quite expensive. Some of them are $10 - $15 each but they usually will last through the winter- at least in my zone.

That is pretty cute. I have a yard full of succulents to use when I get ready to do my fairy garden. None of the upright type though. Lots of hens and chicks and other varieties.

I have never done one before. I have been gathering things to put in it besides plants. I hope to do this next year. I just painted up an old wheelbarrow to use as the planter part. Placement here is critical as it has to be far enough away from the house and shop so the snow does not slide off the roofs and knock the thing over or smash it. I am out of room on my patio unless I move some thing.

Fun video.

The nice thing about succulents is that it's easy to divide them to make more. I give away tons of aloe plants every year because my plants just keep making more.

AH HA and the replacement of a HUGE propane tank in the yard for a smaller one gave me the perfect corner to put the wheelbarrow for the fairy garden. This was a spur of the moment decision by hubby and it happened quickly and is done. All I need to do is move the wheelbarrow over there. Funny how things work out. I had no idea when I posted above all of this was going to happen as it did. The change in tank was all hubbies idea and I am SURE he was not at all considering I needed a place for my Fairy garden. ROFL.

Another upside of this tank is the propane guy told me to go ahead and glass it up with my mosaics as much as I wanted to. Just not do dark colors to attract heat to it. Fun times ahead.

Smiling.

AND the wheelbarrow fits nicely in the new space. I also added two painted small garbage cans I will use to plant zucchini in next year. I had issues with it this year so trying moving it as far away as I can from this years planting.

I am going to plant some trailing petunias around the outer edge of the wheelbarrow and do the fairy garden in the center area. I have all winter to make up the stepping stones and gather some more items to use. And I REALLY need to find a fairy.

Walmart had sets of miniature garden decorations for about $10 this year, little benches and statues. My kids wanted them badly for their dolls...if they had wanted them for my garden, they probably would have gotten them.

Another place to look for little fairy statues or things like that is Dollar Tree, but probably not this time of year.

Idaho, our garden centers have impressive supplies for fairy gardens! Give yours a try, not cheap, but so cute! I still set up my fairy garden each year even though the grandkids are pretty much over it but I think the squirrels are fascinated by it. Someone is moving those pieces around!
