And tonight into the 20's. What's left of my garden will be no more. So long fresh tasty vegetables, thanks for feeding me.

First frost last night at my house in Denver. It was 33 when I got up at 5:30 this morning. But it didn't kill the banana tree or elephant ears, so not much of a frost.

I've noticed that the banana tree has stopped growing, which is good. It's going into dormancy. The stalk will overwinter in place, outside, wrapped up, covered, and mulched.

Not really. Coldest I've seen here was 44f below zero. Only 24 degrees last night 100% coverage in heavy frost. Garden is no more.

I take it you live at high altitude? We don't get that kind of cold in Denver.

Only 7,000 feet in a river valley. Always cold here in winter. And I apologize to the OP for apparently hijacking this thread. Oops!

Sounds beautiful! 2K higher than me though... and I hear the cold air can get "trapped" in valleys.

I had our first Frost, Freeze and Snow on the same exact day this year. Nuts.

Low October 19th was 26°F from an Arctic blast.

Fig Tree said... I'm officially done

Rain and Wind yesterday and now it's time to winterize.

This thread is no good without pictures.

I haven't seen a frost for 30 years.
