A clint of mine put oneof his house's on the market, it had a bed of New Zealand flax about 8 feet wide by 100 feet long, it took us several days of chopping and digging to remove over 50 years worth of growth, nearly 20 cubic yards of flax. some of it had grown on top of itself and had reached heights of about 10 feet high. It took us over 7 trips using my truck and trailer, plus his truck to haul it away to be burned. I planted one from a five gallon pot, into the ground in 2006, in ten years it has grown to 14 feet tall and takes up a space about 10 feet by 10 feet. It fell over this year and I will be getting rid of it for good.
