I have a roommate in a duplex in south Florida he rents the place. One of my dogs has skin allergies where it gets red and itchy. Recently I saw some little bits of stuff on the back area concrete and then saw it on the front. It looks like tiny pieces of clay or pencil eraser. Does anyone know what it is? I don't know that this is what is causing the dogs' allergies, I have changed his food too, and they don't go in the backyard a lot since it's not fenced in, they only go outside for a short while 3 times a day to pee and poo, but they get 2 walks a day. Does anyone know if these bits are some kind of fertilizer?
From your description it sounds more like insecticide than fertilizer. I use a Scott's fertilizer, and it's more of a grayish white than brownish. The colors vary by brands, so it could be fertilizer. It's about the right time where you live to fertilize.
Lots of fertilizers are pelleted with clay, so it could really be anything. Best to ask him.
