I didn't store my dalia's properly; just got them out of the grnd before hard freeze and put them in a shoebox in garage, thinking I'd come back. Since I didn't wash them and divide then (they're a little shriveled ..) can I soak them to get dirt off and rehydrate some? Should I try to divide or plant as is when warm enough? thank you! zone 7a

You have nothing to lose. Since there are no pictures it is too hard to tell if they are gone or not. Depending upon where you live, you may or may not want to out them in the ground now and should wait till after the first freeze.

Beats me. I just got my first dahlias this year, and when I got them there was no sign of life. Now they are growing, so just plant them, OP, and hope for the best. I'm in zone 8, so I do not plan to dig them up in the fall.
