Here's an image of sunflower seedling leaves with the true leaves beginning to grow.

Yes - you're totally onto something. I just put up a bird feeder a few weeks ago and sunflower seeds are part of the mix I've been using.

Is there any remedy other than constantly pulling these guys up? All I wanted to do was to have a little diversion outside my window and I think I'm in for a little more than I bargained for!

Take a moment to learn and then teach someone else. Those are cotyledon leaves.

That was my thought as well. It's too early to tell.

Tell me about it! I have next door neighbors who I adore, except for their bird feeder. The birds eat the seeds in their yard, and poop out the thistle seeds in my yard. Always fresh thistles in case anyone needs some...

The seedlings in your pics are in your lawn, right? Mowing will get them.

They're annuals, so they won't resprout from the root.

And you might let some grow and go to seed, depending on where they are. They're decorative, after all.
