Bermudagrass at 3". It's a good height to shade the roots and help minimize weeds.

Tall fescue here, looking at 4" now, but might raise it another inch for summer.

I cut my yard every week. We like it short and looking nice. Not sure why summer makes a difference though, we want it short all year long.

Higher you cut discourages weeds and is better in summer with the hot days. Also, encourages deeper root system.

Zoysia, 3" in our front yard.

I have no idea what the backyard grass is but that's 3" as well. We return the grass clippings into the yard and it's pretty healthy this way.

Higher grass is better in withstanding drought conditions.
You can also damage grass if you mow it too short at one time relative to it's current length.

This question will be all over the place as it will depend on location, grass type and even the number of trees and therefore shade on a lawn.

I'm in NC, we have a "drought tolerant" fescue/bluegrass mix and a good amount of sun and I cut it about 3 1/2 in the summer sometimes a notch above that if it's gotten really tall. (In prime season like now I try to mow every 5 days because going 7 means it's hard to mulch the clippings and I have to bag which is a waste). Right in March when I start I will cut it a bit shorter than that to get rid of the yellowing faster.

Basically, the hotter it is, the taller I let the grass grow.

Read that higher means it shades out weeds better. Bluegrass and I have it near 4".
