That's kind of cute. It sounds like the basis of a children's story.

Why are you scared? Surely you knew that there are animals and insects outside the house. And even if one ventures inside, it's nothing to be scared of.

I suppose it could be argued that a robust rodent population will attract snakes, which I wouldn't enjoy. Perhaps op could adopt some outside cats to help keep the rodent population down.

Indoor cats have a life expectancy of fourteen years; outdoor cats have a life expectancy of three years. Snakes do far better outside. People who are afraid of snakes should stick to concrete jungles.
