We had one pop up in our side bed last year and since we had planted many different bulbs without keeping a chart we debated whether it was a weed or not. My wife won and it got pulled before it grew very large.
This season two more have grown in each of our front beds so we decided to let them grow and see what they turn into.
Suffice to say, we are not impressed. They grow quickly but are not very attractive and we still have no idea as to what they are.
Anyone know? Any help is appreciated.Click image for larger version

Hard for me to tell for sure, and I'm definitely not an expert. It could be phlox, or a weed that looks like phlox. I had both growing together. My friend showed me how to tell the difference, the weed has knots, the phlox does not. I think it is called a Smart Weed, or possibly Knotweed?

Didn't Eldemila nail it with the smartweed? The leaves and those pink blooms/seeds look like a match.

Gardner friend of mind jokingly told me "if it pulls out easily it is a flower/plant, if it gives you a hard time it is a weed". Don't I know that feeling!

It looks like what we call fire weed.

They're an annual and pull up easily. They also reseed themselves prolifically.
