So sad. I was a horticulture major and a had this professor that was kind. He wore these thick glasses with even thicker bi focials in them. He'd always come in class with dirty checkered double knit pants on. He was so nice. He taught me so much. I miss that old man.

I didn't know of this man, but after looking at his work, he was an amazing and talented gardener. RIP Mr Gainey, I hope you are tending plants and your boys are playing in a beautiful garden. So very sad.

What a kind thing to say PhxBarb! Sometimes we are too tender hearted but I'd rather be that than the opposite. Can't rep you again so soon but I'll catch you later.

I, too, have had mentors that changed my life. And, when they passed on, it was a very hard time for me. I know your pain.

Just saw this story...OMG, I'm so sorry!! PhxBarb is right---people that love plants and animals are very special people. I did not know this man but from what I've read, he touched many people in a positive way. We really need more like him in this world. I don't know you either but I am sure you will pass on his gentle, kind and positive ways having known him
My heart goes out to you and all that mourn him.
