Hello:

I am new to this medium, and want to start putting pictures of my garden. Where can I find detailed information that it is easy for me to understand?

Thank you,

Sassy,
see the 'Quick Reply' dialog box you type a message in? Now look below it, and find the words 'Go Advanced.' In 'Go Advanced,' you will see a (icon) file clip. Clicking on it will allow you to insert an image from one of your documents in your computer.

If you know a url, you can just stay in the 'Quick Reply' dialog box and click on the tiny icon yellow box.
There it will allow you to type in the url from somewhere in cyberspace.

Ahhh, cool! I am a believer a post is boring without a picture.

First .. Either you can do it like this. Click on the paper clip icon, then browse your computer where it's saved, upload. Open the image, copy and paste.

Problem with that is CityData limits the amount of pictures you can store. I filled it up quick years ago.

So I been using Imgur.com now. You can also resize easily there.

Which leads to my last comment. Make sure you don't post insanely large photos. Nobody likes a page to take forever to load.

Have fun.

Thank you for your reply. Not only am I a novice here, but also in the computer. How do I make the picture smaller?

I just use image tags... It's code: [Img] [/img] And then once the image's 'address' is pasted between the tags, remove the extra space.

And I store images elsewhere and size them to be smallish.

That method no longer works.
City-Data only allows URL image hosting links now,
and my links never work.

I use imgur . Pretty easy and they don't charge a subscription like photoshmucket.
