No worries, in a couple of years there will be robot field workers. No need to hire anybody anymore to work in the fields. Not sure what the humans are gonna do when all manual labor is done by robots, we already lost a lot of jobs to robotics. What will be left for humans to do? Maybe we should just give everyone a stipend to buy products from robotic grown GMO crops.

Even before Monsato, we were losing seed varieties due to folks only growing produce which would ship well. Some of the better tasting varieties don't ship well at all, so they weren't planted commercially. Monsato and big agri-business is just continuing a trend.

What you can do - other than go watch the movie since watching a movie may or may not change your mind, but it's always good to at least look at both sides - is to plant your own garden with heirloom and open pollinated seeds. Then save those seeds to replant and give to them your neighbors, too.

Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. SEED features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.

Release date: September 23, 2016 (USA)

Too bad this Informative discussion was derailed by several pages of foolish posts.
This is the GARDEN-forum, what better place than to Alert people to ever-growing danger(s) to basic food security...

Thank you also for stating the obvious
1. DO plant your own garden with heirloom & open pollinated seeds. Then save those seeds to replant and
2. give them to your neighbors, too.
