Here in the Savannah area, it still feels like summer. We do not experience a change of season in the fall, except we get to turn off the AC. The tired foliage does not really get color and fall off the trees for another month or two.
Today, I replaced my tired window boxes with pansies, and they will probably go for most of the winter.
Here in coastal L.A few trees here and there are red/orange, but the vast majority are green. Some trees won't lose all their leaves until January and then by mid March the new ones come in.
Not sure there will be a peak in my area. We were hit pretty hard with a three month summer drought. Many of the leaves (oak) here are still green, but the ones that are turning are going straight to brown, and dropping immediately. The maples are a very light yellow with a lot of black blotches.
Same here in Eastern MA. Very little color. Lots of trees pretty much went right from green to brown and dropped them. I raked up plenty of leaves this weekend with a few small spots of color, and still green.
There's a grove of maples in my yard that are still green, but dropping leaves now.
My Japanese maple isn't even displaying good color this year.

It was the same here in Wisconsin. Peak is over and there was very little color. I think our fall was just too wet. My oak is very pretty this year, though - instead of its usual brownish-red, the leaves are a deep reddish-purple.
Not sure about the peak. Some trees have turned and lost their leaves, but lots of trees and shrubs haven't turned yet, or are ramping up the color. Related to the previous post, this is the first year that my herbaceous PEONY leaves have fall color. Usually they are dry and shrively by this time of year. Many leaves are various shades of red and orange.
