First signs of spring here is the robins returning, males first. Then we see the grass barely greening up and crocus, daffodils etc. Unfortunately we are a ways from that. Despite it being March 1st we will have a ton of snow with no sight of the lawn at all.
In Omaha, I have also seen and have heard more birds than I did two weeks ago. Another good sign is the snow cover is almost absent and the temperature rose to the upper 50's today. For us this was a heat wave. Many folks were at the car washes in shorts. Sorry, but that is still too cold for this former Texan!
50's here today!!! WOOHOOOO!! The smaller shrubs and trees along the highway are yellowing up - so sap is rising. Oh, and that important first sign of SPRING -- allergies - are beginning to show themselves!!
Our snow is all gone (finally) and this whole week its to be in the 40's!! Bring it on! No jacket today, short sleeves, and maybe sandals!
Well, the birds are confused here in E Kansas.
The low tonight will be colder than 5F with about 1 inch of snow on the ground.
I am getting a little tired of these extreme 40-50F temperature swings every couple of days!!
I've seen some robins here in NJ but that's it. Spring is so beautiful when it comes which doesn't happen until end of April. Then sometimes we have a snowfall-spring snow doesn't last long and finally we have spring but all too often it turns into outright summer.
I have a little wait for Spring to get here. I took this photo two days ago. We have gotten another 10-12" sense then. I am 6'2" tall and took the photo standing straight up, no crouching down. Just to give you a perspective of where it was taken from.
wow bydand !!!! how long will that take to melt
thank you for reminding me why I moved to fla
a couple weeks ago I noticed hundred's of robins in our yard they were passing through on their way back up north
they found the huge holly tree in my front yard that was loaded with berries and it was like "the buffet is open" they stripped every berry it was amazing to watch them
I noticed yesterday that all of my citrus trees are covered with buds I hope the lite freeze we got last night will not affect them
there is no smell sweeter than when they are all in bloom
