Small tree stump removal ideas (growing, trees, squirrel, spring)

I know how and have removed big mature stumps but I have several small trees that keep growing in my gardens. We cut them off and have tried to remove them but they keep coming back. Not to mention all the new ones the squirrels keep planting. They are only 2 inch diameter but fifteen feet tall. One is about 4 inches diameter. The garden is so dense I would have to ruin many plant to get a machine in there but I doubt it would work with such a small trunk. I was thinking of using a large drill bit to drill out some of the stump. But I don't want to use any chemicals for fear of hurting any of the surrounding plant. Has anyone used the drill to take out a stump? I found this one below. And part of my garden. Thanks
I have removed many 2 inch or smaller stumps with a pickaxe (Pick Mattock) and a pointed shovel. You start with chopping the perimeter roots and once their gone you chop the main downward leader root and toss the stump aside.

For that size I have had success chopping it down to a 2' stump, then placing the end loop of a 3/8" wire rope around it, the other end around the hitch of my 4WD pickup. Doing it in spring the soil is soft and it pulls out roots and all. If the loop on the tree pulls off, I may have to add a couple of large nails to keep it on the stump.
Thanks will try the pick axe. Can't get a truck or anything in there. Not sure what kind they are, some junk tree with berries. I know they are on the get rid list in MN because I looked that up a few years ago but forgot what they were named. Looks like hard work ahead.
I am in my 60's but in good shape and could chop up and remove a 2 inch stump in less than 20 minutes resting between bouts of swinging the pickaxe. Give it a shot!
When the shoots from the cut stump try to send out leaves, paint the leaves with Round-up. Keep at it. It will be a never ending battle with some trees that spread a lot underground.
I have stopped various small trees from growing after the truck is cut down by simply drilling a half inch hole into the top about 3" - 6" deep and filling with a Round-up mixture.
Yes it's easy to chop the small trees off and we do all the time. Then they grow back. Will have to pick axe them and see if that does it. I am leery about using roundup in my dense garden for spreading. The four inch one is the worst. Will have at it this week.
Last night the wind kicked up so great that it tore down our arch gate. We will miss it and try to find something comparable.
