Bees are attracted to colors at the far left of the color spectrum. So plant plenty of blue and purple flowers.
I don't know, I saw absolute monster bumble bees Sunday on my yellow and red goblin flowers and my caramel echibekias. They seem to love every color in my garden. They do love the blue flowers of the chaste tree, I'll give you that. The guy who mows my lawn won't go near that tree when it's in full flower because it's absolutely swarming with bumblebees.
Humans base their color combinations on red, blue and green, while bees base their colors on ultraviolet light, blue and green. This is the reason why bees can't see the color red. ... They can, however, see reddish wavelengths, such as yellow and orange. They can also see blue-green, blue, violet, and “bee's purple.”

The Russian sage I have really attracts them. But they don't bloom until late, they haven't yet here in Minnesota. You are talking about the big fluffy furry ones right? Yes they go after some french lavender I have too, which also doesn't bloom till later. Both are purple and both plants and their flowers are extremely fragrant.
I have loads of bumble bees. They like my lavender. I have different bees on my Shasta daisies.
I have Lavender, Shasta Daisies, and many other colors............I used to have too many of them........something has happened to make them go away. I do not use insecticides, but my neighbors are in love with ROUNDUP? Maybe, that is what causing it, since it contains Glysophate?
