fruits look like possible persimmons (esp. the flower ends), but the bark looks way different from diospyros virginiana.

taste one of the green fruits and see if it pulls all of the moisture out of your tongue.

Maybe a japanese persimmon? I'm not real familiar with persimmon trees, but those fruits sure look like persimmons to me.

I didn't know persimmon can be purple or green. I thought the fruit has orange color.

I believe they're all green when unripe.

Dunno about the dark one, though. There is a native Texas persimmon that has dark fruit, but that has small fruits. Texas Native Plants Database

As I say, I'm basically familiar with persimmons in the store, not as trees.

It looks like a date plum tree (Diospyros lotus) tree. Tree trunk and fruits match OP photos.

The fruit is both green and purple. I will google dome of the species that were suggested to see if the photos match up.

I'm guessing by the responses it is an unusual tree, at least in this part of Virginia!

Virginia has a master gardener program, and master gardeners offer free info services to the public. Find out where there's a master gardener clinic in your area, and bring in some fruits and leaves. Home: Virginia Master Gardener Association
