.... Tertill is a solar-powered, weed-destroying, fully autonomous and completely self-contained robot designed for your garden. Put it out there, forget about it (mostly), and it will brutally exterminate any weeds that it can find, as long as they’re short.
The genius thing about Tertill is that it’s self-sufficient. It has one button, you push that button, and then forget about the robot while it weeds your garden every day, forever. You can talk to it via Bluetooth and get updates and statistics and whatnot, but that’s optional. With a waterproof design and batteries charged by the sun, you really can just leave the robot alone and be confident that your garden will be weed free.
It typically covers 100 sq. ft. Big whoop. For the amount of money that I'm sure it costs, I can get my old self out there and pull the weeds out, which permanently eliminates them. I'm not keen on the "just cutting" them repeatedly method as a way of weeding; it seems kind of useless to me. Plus it sure isn't going to tackle crabgrass or chickweed, and those are two of the biggest weed problems I have in the yard.

But people will buy it anyway, because of what the next poster said:

It is a great idea, but like the one poster already stated: 'Big Whoop' - 100 sq ft is 10X10.
If it had an extended range and power I could see a use patrolling the perimeters of our homes and businesses. Around my house is about 1000 sq ft of peat moss that I like to keep weed free. Little Tertill will be long tuckered out before it could tackle 1000 sq ft. Beside; it doesn't even know when to stop - it needs a border. Perhaps future robots will be smarter and hardier?
My string trimmer makes short work of the weeds when I am lazy and considerably quicker than Tertill. I would also bet that one string trimmer will be cheaper than any of these units (that are not even on the market so far).
