Hi, I am looking for some privacy trees. I have read tons of recommendations -- Green Giant, Leyland Cypress, etc. I'm not totally satisfied with them because they look too purposefully planted. I am wondering if there are evergreen trees that may have some of these features:

1. Grows tall and big, to say 30-40'
2. Grows fast
3. Are shaped like a regular tree, with a trunk and then a big ball of leaves (as opposed to Xmas tree shape)
4. Have some colors
5. Maybe flower during summer
6. Maybe even bearing eatable fruits

Stay away from Lelands. We had about 20 of them. Eventually they were infected with bag worms. Which means you have to treat them twice yearly to keep them at bay. I would choose there cousin called the Green Giant. Much hardier.

But i'm not satisfied with Green Giant's simple cone shape. Any options some some of the features I listed?

We grow several species of cassia. Flowers are amazing, and easy to prune to shape. Down here, they grow fast.

We planted a few from seed 3 years ago, already blooming. This link will show you the 'Gold Medallion' cassia.
It bloomed this spring.

I'm sure in Cali Nurseries would carry some species of these exotics.

Yew can be shaped like regular tree but very slow growing.

Some exotic evergreen trees that I likes are podocarpus, loquat, Lithocarpus densiflorus, madrone, etc..

Cassia looks beautiful.

It seems the Green Giant is really the way to go... I think I will plant a row of that, then plant some additional trees such as Cassia or Ginkgo right by them to give some color and break up the "wall" feel.

Eucalyptus are ranked as invasive in California....https://ww2.kqed.org/science/2013/06...asive-species/

Though, I will say it is amazing to see an old stand rising up along a country road. The mature tree is very beautiful, in my opinion.
