What in your garden is suffering from fire blight. Not all plants suffer from it.
Fire blight, caused by the bacterium Erwinia amylovora, is a common and frequently destructive disease of pome fruit trees and related plants. Pear (Pyrus species) and quince (Cydonia) are extremely susceptible. Apple, crabapple (Malus species), and firethorns (Pyracantha species) also are frequently damaged.

We have four pear and five large apple trees. The pear trees were first infected and because they are smaller; I managed to prune off all of the blight. Now it looks like they made a full recovery; but our apples are now close to being totally wiped out. Last year they were infected and at the beginning of this year I thought they had recovered. My optimism was short lived as our hot, dry, summer took a toll. For the last two months our apples have not had leaves and just small fruit. My chainsaw might be the only solution to my problem. Of course I can hope for a miracle and spray with the copper products; but my feeling is that it's too late.
