Does this stuff work in flower beds? Most of what I find online is about stopping crabgrass in lawns.

I'd sure like to cut down on the weeds in the flower beds.

Logically, it should.

But if you have any perennial weeds in those beds, you'll have to pull or hoe those and as soon as you do that you'll disturb areas in the layer of pre-emergent that you originally put down.

There is only ONE way to get rid of weeds. In a garden or a lawn.
On your knees working one square foot at a time and from the root.

Yes, preemergent is effective is all areas but the extent varies with the timing of application, seeds blowing in, and rainfall. I use it every year on various surfaces trying to time application to catch early weeds and again to slow later weed germination.

Preemergents are not one size fits all. There are different ones out that for different purposes. Read the label.
