I have a small retail location on a Main Street that gets occasional coastal winds running along the street. I'd like to put out a hanging basket of flowers/plants as well as a sidewalk container and am looking for plant recommendations that will stand up to a ENE exposure and wind. I've looked online and have come up with pelargoniums and lobelia (maybe grasses in the container) which might be iffy in shade. Water retention crystals and slow release fertilizers will be a given.

Thanks in advance.

Trailing/hanging begonias do well in shade. You can also use begonias in the sidewalk container.

Just make sure they are completely and overly secured. You'd be in a world of hurt if one blew down and clonked a customer on the head.

If it is windy, they will dry our fast, so plan on frequent watering.

We'll use a closed hook system and sturdy materials.
