I've tried looking on-line for a match, but no success.

These pop up in early spring, flower, then they're done.

Gorgeous colors and very fragrant!

Some are red, some are creamy pink, some are purple like the one in the picture.

Each stem has many blooms and they start in sequence starting at the end and the blooms work backwards to the stem.

It almost looks like a crocus but not if it has many blooms on one stem. I have no idea.

Looks and sounds a lot like freesia but freesia starts at the stem and blooms outward.

I think you're right!

I was looking at the stem/flowering the wrong way.
